WHO WE ARE

In 2014, our family changed forever. Our son John was involved in a terrible motorcycle accident. Unfortunately, even after great efforts by local rescue, John did not make it. We were in shock. As with any family faced with tragedy, we had many difficult choices to make. Luckily John had made an unbelievably mature and selfless decision for us; he had signed the back of his driver's license indicating that he wanted to be an organ and tissue donor. As we processed this tragedy, we were empathetically approached by the transplant team to proceed with the next steps. Due to John's signature, we gained additional family and started down a path that has helped our family turn tragedy into triumph. Through organ and tissue donation, John has been able to reshape the lives of 169 people. Through donation he lives on in 22 states and 2 countries. He was able to give tendons, skin and bone grafts, vital organs, and his cornea. He was able to help complete strangers in regaining sight, mechanical function, health, and restore life. We have created this foundation in John's honor to raise awareness for, and to support this incredible cause: the gift of life, the gift of sight, and the gift of hope.

WHAT WE DO

We work closely with Gift of Hope and Eversight Illinois in raising awareness and knowledge of organ and tissue donation throughout the state of Illinois. Our aim is to assist others in making the tough decision to donate and honor John's memory by encouraging everyone to follow in his footsteps. Through annual memorial rides, semi annual highway clean-ups in service with Kane County's Adopt-A-Highway program, and raising awareness, we hope to keep John's legacy alive through the things he loved most: motorcycles, family, and service to others. "The road goes on forever..."
